This summer, Sekisui America Corporation (SAC) sponsored "Kids Science Class” for 60 students of New Jersey’s Japanese weekend school. SAC employees conducted several hands on experiments using Sekisui brand products, including S-Lec film for laminated glass. The students learned about the products and their functions, and how Sekisui uses science and engineering to make simple, everyday items function.

In the experiment, a large steel ball was dropped on a piece of tempered glass, and on a piece of laminated glass with Sekisui S-Lec America PVB film. While the tempered glass breaks apart into many pieces, the laminated glass with S-Lec film shatters but the glass fragments remain attached to the interlayer film. This technology can help minimize injuries to passengers in vehicles involved in accidents. Students enjoyed the animated presenters and the hands on experiments while learning about the important role science and engineering play in our everyday lives.
